On March 31, 2025, the EOC of Nassau County held its annual Women’s History Month Celebration, bringing together community members, leaders, and changemakers for a powerful and uplifting event centered around this year’s theme:

“Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations.”

The celebration was a beautiful tribute to the women who continue to shape our communities through strength, wisdom, and dedication. We were honored to welcome Anissa D. Moore, Deputy County Executive for Health & Human Services and member of the EOC Board of Directors, as our keynote speaker. Her inspiring message called attention to the ongoing legacy of women’s leadership and the critical role women play in uplifting families and guiding future generations.

As Ms. Moore shared in her own words following the event:

“Honored to serve as the Keynote Speaker on March 31, 2025, for the EOC of Nassau County Annual Celebration of Women’s History Month: ‘Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations.’ EOC has empowered women and their families for over 50 years!”

The afternoon also included special recognitions, as Citations were presented to MelRose Corley, Anita L. Shiver-Kennedy, and LaVonne Erskine in honor of their exceptional years of community service. These honorees exemplify the heart of Community Action—serving others with compassion, commitment, and purpose.

From thoughtful reflections to moments of celebration, the event highlighted not only the progress that has been made, but the work that continues in advocating for equity and opportunity. The room was filled with pride, gratitude, and hope—a true reflection of what it means to move forward, together.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to all the women past and present whose stories continue to educate, inspire, and lead the way.
