COMMUNITY CREDIBLE MESSENGER INITIATIVE

Community Credible Messengers Initiative (CCMI)

As they return to the community on a conditional release, teenagers under the supervision of the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) are partnered with the Community Credible Messengers Initiative (CCMI).

By carefully and cooperatively creating a network of Parent Partners and Credible Messengers who live in the same neighborhoods, FSW collaborates with grassroots community groups to enhance the safety and wellbeing of children and their families.

Every young person is linked with a Credible Messenger, and the parent or guardian is placed with a Parent Partner who assists the family in reintegrating successfully into society and achieving particular self-established objectives. A significant element of the program consists of providing every young person with work-based learning opportunities together with rewards as their progress is recognized and celebrated.

In order to improve how they cope, the young person is also provided with enrichment activities such as field trips.
