We are seeking dedicated and energetic After-School Program Teachers to join our LEAPS-School-Age Child Care (SACC) Program, for children ages 9-12 years old. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading fun, educational, and engaging activities, fostering a positive and safe environment, and supporting students' social, emotional, and academic growth. This role requires creativity, enthusiasm, and a passion for working with children.

Part-time (afternoons); Monday – Friday
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• The position involves standing, sitting, and actively engaging with children indoors and outdoors.
• Work hours are typically between 3:00 PM - 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional extended hours during school breaks.
Responsibilities:
Plan and Implement Activities:
Develop age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that foster creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. Activities may include arts and crafts, STEM projects, reading sessions, and physical activities.
Supervise and Ensure Safety:
• Monitor children’s behavior to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
• Manage group dynamics and maintain a structured environment during indoor and outdoor activities.
Provide Homework Assistance:
Offer guidance and support with homework and school assignments, encouraging academic success.
Foster Positive Relationships: Build strong, positive relationships with students, parents, and staff. Act as a role model and mentor to students, promoting respect, responsibility, and positive social interactions.
Behavior Management: Implement positive behavior strategies and manage conflicts in a calm, fair manner.
Communication: Regularly communicate with parents and guardians regarding their child’s progress, behavior, and any concerns or achievements.
Program Support: Assist with program setup and cleanup, and collaborate with team members to enhance program quality and student experience.
Requirements:
Valid NYS Teacher Certification required.
Previous experience working with school-age children in an educational or child care setting.
Knowledge of child development and behavior management techniques.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to engage and motivate children in a variety of activities.
CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
Must meet New York State health and safety requirements for child care providers, including background checks.
